Alice Marilyn Butts

Alice Marilyn Butts, 91, of Danville died Saturday July 9, 2022 at Gardenview Manor, Tilton.  She was born May 13, 1931 at Hoopeston, IL the daughter of Vernon John and Helen Aleatha (Thornburg) Gholson, Sr.

She married Larry L Butts on January 14, 1950 in Hoopeston and they enjoyed sixty-six years together before his death on December 5, 2016.

Surviving are two children, Denise (Kenny) Pickett of Tilton, and Danny Butts of Danville; a sister Shirley (Butch) Sondgerath of Ambia, IN, nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.  Her husband, son Alan Butts, five brothers and three sisters, and daughter-in-law preceded her in death.

Alice graduated from Hoopeston High School.  They moved to Danville in 1968 and she was employed at Black’s Hardware for several years.  She had previously attended the Southside Church of Christ, and was a member of VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and Grotto Ladies.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 P. M. CDT Thursday July 14, 2022 in Shelby Funeral Home, 622 Third Street, Covington, IN with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating.  Visitation 1:00 to 3:00 P. M.
