Bruce Wayne Pierce, 75, of Covington, Indiana, passed away on July 11, 2026.

Bruce will be remembered for his quick wit, unwavering loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. He always had a sarcastic comment ready, was quick to lend a helping hand, and never met a stranger for long. His greatest joy in life came from the people he loved and the countless memories they made together.

Born September 5, 1950, in Danville, Illinois, Bruce proudly served in the United States Marine Corps before returning home to help at Pierce’s Garage. A lifelong gearhead, he loved motorcycles, racing, and especially his cherished blue Corvette.

Bruce spent the majority of his career in manufacturing, retiring as Purchasing Manager from Thyssenkrupp (TK). He was known for his strong work ethic, quick humor, and the lasting friendships he built throughout his career. His lifelong high school friends, affectionately known as "TKB", remained among his closest companions, and together with his work family, they shared decades of hunting trips, fishing adventures, holidays, and stories that only grew better with time.

Bruce’s greatest role was being a father. He loved Shelly, Salena, and Steve wholeheartedly, and nothing made him prouder than watching the family he built continue to grow through each generation. Baseball was the heartbeat of the Pierce household. Bruce coached Little League for many years, rarely missed one of Steve’s games, near and far, and remained one of his son’s biggest supporters throughout life both on and off the diamond. Many former players and fellow coaches became lifelong friends, and Little League stories remained among his favorites to tell.

An avid outdoorsman, Bruce cherished duck and goose hunting and annual fishing trips to Balm Lake in Minnesota and Red Lake and Canyon Lake in Canada. Some of his happiest memories were made at "Guthrie’s Canyon Lake Lodge," owned by his lifelong friend, Timo, where fishing, laughter, and lifelong friendships became treasured traditions.

Bruce also loved his Fighting Illini, Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox, his dogs Tippy and Zoey, sharing Facebook reels, sending thoughtful articles and reflections to family and friends, and telling stories that somehow got better every time they were told.

Although he eventually stepped away from organized church, his faith remained an important part of his life and quietly guided the way he loved others.

Bruce is survived by his son, Steve Pierce (fiancée Jessica Dow); daughters, Shelly (Josh) Rainey and Salena Woodrow; grandchildren Mackenzie (Brooks) Chumley, Lauren Beirl, Logan (Justin) Long, Braden Rainey, Ryan Beirl, Sophia Woodrow, Crosby Woodrow, Oliver Pierce, and Avery Pierce; multiple great-grandchildren, Aiden Chumley, Eleanor Long, and Amelia Long; nephews Robin Soneson, Eric Soneson, and Mike Wolf; and his beloved dogs, Tippy and Zoey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth “Scooter” Pierce and Margaret Pierce, and his sisters, Karen Soneson and Pam Wolf.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 5, 2026, the day Bruce would have celebrated his 76th birthday. Additional details will be announced.

Bruce’s greatest legacy lives on in the family and friends he cherished so deeply. The best way to honor him is to gather together, tell a great story, cast a doctor spoon into the water or burn a bucktail. Cheer on the Illini, and remind the people you love just how much they mean to you.
