Carl R Allison

Carl R. Allison, 82, of Mulberry, IN, formerly of Covington died at 10:13 A. M. Sunday April 29, 2018 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital, Lafayette.  He was born July 17, 1935 at Oakwood, IL the son of Homer and Mayme (Shumaker) Allison.

He was a resident of Covington seventy years, moving to Mulberry in January 2016.  He was a 1953 graduate of Covington High School.  Carl served in the U S Army from 1953 to 1955.

His memberships include Benson Chapel United Methodist Church and Carpenter’s Local #259, Danville, IL.  He enjoyed his family, camping, bowling, golf, and fishing.  Employed as superintendent of construction for Ellington Miller, Danville for 30 years before retiring.  He then started Allison Drywall, which he operated for several years before retiring in 1996.  After retirement he built his own home and continued doing construction in the community.

Carl married Margaret Ann Phillips July 15, 1956 at State Line United Methodist Church and she survives.  Also surviving are two children, Anthony “Tony” (Kathy) Allison of Rockville, IN, and Joyce (Wayne) Reeder of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Ted, Ben, Jenifer Allison, and Ross Reeder; five great grandchildren; three half-sisters, Maxine Cotton, Marilyn Osborne, Sharon Allison, and a half brother Steve Allison; several nieces and nephews.  His parents and a brother Harold Allison, whom he adored, preceded him in death.

Funeral services 11:00 A. M. EDT Wednesday May2, 2018 at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington with Rev. Michael Dillon officiating.  Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery with military honors by the Army and Veedersburg American Legion.  Visitation 4:00 to 7:00 P. M.
