Carolyn Jean Upperman

Carolyn Volkel Upperman, 82, of Perrysville, IN passed away at 10:00 A. M. Sunday January 31, 2016 at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville, IL. She was born December 10, 1933 at her Lewis grandparents home north of Gessie, IN the daughter of Ellis W. and Dorothy (Lewis) Volkel.
She was a 1952 graduate of Perrysville High School. She married Charles Perry in the summer of 1952. He preceded her in death.
Carolyn married Michael Upperman in May 1968 and he survives. Also surviving are daughters, Pam (Larry) Pfleiderer of Monticello, IL; Becky Perry of Clinton, IN; Deanna Perry of Escondido, CA; a son, Craig Perry of Champaign, IL; three grandchildren; a stepdaughter Teresa Baldwin of Danville, IL; a stepson Michael Upperman, Jr. of Clinton, IN; two brothers, James (Linda) Volkel of Queens Creek, AZ; and Curtis (Hildred) Volkel of Perrysville, IN.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Perry, a sister Janet Volkel and a brother Lowell Volkel.
Carolyn enjoyed taking three or four day trips throughout the Midwest with Capitol Tours. Most of all she enjoyed being Mom to her children.
Visitation will be 10:00 A. M. until time of services at Noon Friday February 5, 2016 at Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Brenda Burnworth officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. Condolences to the family: www.shelbyfuneralhome.com. Funeral Service
