Dennis F. Murray, 60, of The Villages, Florida, passed away Friday August 1, 2014 at his home.
Dennis was born on June 18, 1954 in Brevard, North Carolina. He is the son of William Franklin Murray (deceased) and JoAnn Tatham Murray.
He is survived by his mother JoAnn Murray of Covington, IN; one sister, Janice (Mike) Cunningham of Covington, IN; three nephews: Andrew (Kim) Cunningham of Elkhart, IN; Jon Cunningham of Westfield, IN; and Phil Cunningham of Covington, IN; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dennis was a 1972 graduate of Covington High School where he played football. He went on to Purdue University where he was a member of the football team from 1973 to 1976. He earned his bachelors degree from Purdue in 1977.
Dennis lived in St. Louis, Missouri for over 23 years of his life where he worked as a sales engineer in specialty metals. He also worked for a short period of time at Olin Corporation.
Dennis retired from Metropolitan Alloys Corporation in McComb, Michigan in 2013. After retiring he moved to The Villages, Florida in September of 2013. He loved to play golf and fish while enjoying time in the warm weather. Dennis was a former member of First Baptist Church in Covington, IN.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. EDT Thursday at Shelby Funeral Home. Funeral services 2:00 P. M. EDT Friday August 8, 2014 at Maranatha Baptist Church, 1111 Harrison Street with Pastor Kenneth Jones officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
