Donald H. Crain, 92, a life resident of Covington died at 12:05 A. M. Wednesday February 11, 2015 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville, IL having been seriously ill the past week.

Donald was born October 15, 1922 in Covington the son of Mont L. and Ruth (Huffer) Crain. He was a 1940 graduate of Covington High School. Don was in the first group drafted from Fountain County and was rejected at Indianapolis due to a previous injury. He was employed at the Wabash River Ordinance Works during World War II. He started to work with his father in Crain Plumbing & Heating in 1946 and continued in the business until retiring in 1982.
He was a life member of Covington United Methodist Church, a Past Master and 71 year member of Fountain Lodge #60 F. & A. M.

Don married Mary Jean Grubb April 5, 1941 at Clarksville, TN and they enjoyed 67 years together until her death May 20, 2008. Surviving are three sons, Jerry L. (Charlotte) Crain, Bradley D. (Marlea) Crain and Randy (Kathy) Crain, all of Covington, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, 3 step great-great grandchildren, and a step great-great-great granddaughter. His parents and a sister Dorothy Rhodes also preceded him in death

A celebration of Dons life will be at 11:00 A. M. EST Saturday February 14, 2015 at Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Roberta Cook officiating. Cremation will follow with burial of ashes in Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P. M. EST Friday at Shelby Funeral Home, with Masonic memorial services at 7:00 P. M.
