Doris Marilyn Gross
1932-2014
Doris Marilyn Gross, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2014 in Denver, Colorado where they were vacationing. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend will be greatly missed.

Doris Marilyn was born April 22, 1932 at home on a farm near State Line, Indiana, the daughter of I. Cecil and Mildred M. (Shoaf) Adams.

Doris Marilyn was a 1950 graduate of Covington High School where she met her loving husband, Robert Gross. She was employed at General Electric in Danville, Illinois for ten years.

One of Doris's outstanding characteristics was her love for people. At every stage of her life, she extended a hand of friendship to all with whom she came in contact. If you knew Doris Marilyn, you were her friend. Doris Marilyn, above all else, loved her family - including her extended family and in-laws. She is survived by Robert Gross, her husband of 63 years, her three children: Steven Gross of Bellevue, Kentucky, Michael (Carla) Gross of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Lynn (Tim) Tuggle of Covington, Indiana as well as 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Dorothy Keller and Betty Minser and her brother Richard Adams.

Doris Marilyn was an avid sports fan and never missed a Cubs game on radio or TV. She also enjoyed gardening, singing and canning her homegrown vegetables.

She was a Sunday School Teacher at State Line United Methodist Church for thirty years and sang in the choir. Recently she was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate the life of Doris Marilyn will be at 2:00 P. M. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the Maranatha Baptist Church, 1111 Harrison Street, Covington, Indiana. Friends and family may call from 12:00 P. M. to 2:00 P. M. Thursday at the church. Shelby Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences to the family: www.shelbyfuneralhome.com.
