Covington - Duane Hyle Martin was born April 15, 1937 and passed away at 9:32 P.M. Sunday December 14, 2014 at the family farm in the same home where he was born 77 years ago, after battling colon cancer for 2 years.
He graduated from Perrysville High School in 1955. He then went to Indiana state university for 2 years. Duane came home and took over the family farm raising grain, cattle, and hogs. Which he farmed until 2 years ago when he became ill. Also, he had a lime hauling and semi-trucking business.
December 29, 1957 he married Luella J. Fleenor and she survives.
He also enjoyed watching sports especially basketball, was an avid NASCAR fan, he loved helping and watching his kids and grandkids with their 4-H animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Doris Martin. Survivors include: 3 children: Marsha (Zach) Thomas; J.D. (Joyce) Martin; Missy (Rick) Columbia; 6 grandchildren: Lindsey (Josh) Salts; Luke Thomas, Clay and Chloe Martin, Ross and Kyler Columbia, and 1 great grandchild, Brody Salts. Also, one brother Bernard Martin, and his best friend, his dog Blue.
Funeral Services will be Thursday December 18, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. EST in Shelby Funeral Home with Kevin Wildman officiating and burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. EST at Shelby Funeral Home. Family requests memorials to American Cancer Society or West Liberty Church of Christ.
