Fauniel Thurman, 82 of rural Williamsport died at 5:36 a. m. Friday October 28, 2011 at Provena USMC, Danville. She was born January 4, 1929 at Williamsport the daughter of Robert Warren and Mary Frances (Tanner) Ricketts.
She was a 1946 graduate of Covington High School and lived at Champaign 30 years, returning to rural Williamsport in 1977. She enjoyed flea markets, collecting, and auctions, having assisted several auctioneers.
Fauniel married Roy Edward Thurman May 7, 1948. He died May 16, 1987. Surviving are 4 children, Gary Thurman of Champaign; Karon (Bill) Huckaby of Fithian; Roy R. (Tina) Thurman of Urbana; Dan (Kerri) Thurman of Williamsport; a brother, Kenneth Butch Ricketts of Williamsport; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Her parents, a son, 3 brothers and 3 sisters preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 p. m. EDT Tuesday November 1, 2011 at Shelby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p. m with Bill Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial, Champaign. Memorials requested to Warren County Community Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.
