Genevieve Louise Waclaw

October 24, 1917 — December 13, 2016

Genevieve “Jennie” Louise Waclaw, 99, of Covington, IN and formerly of Danville, IL, passed away on December 13, 2016, in Crawfordsville, IN.

She was born on October 24, 1917, in Zanesville, OH, to the late Peter and Julia Gryzbowska Paskey. At age 3 she moved to Danville, IL, where she attended local schools and married the late Edward B. Waclaw, on October 29, 1938.  In 1950, she moved to Covington, IN, where she helped manage the family business, Waclaw Body Shop, which continues to operate to this day.  She was a devout member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  Throughout her 99 years, she maintained the courage of her convictions, believed strongly in the healing power of herbal remedies and cherished the time she had with her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Paul Paskey; and her sisters, Cecilia “Silk” Thornsbrough Johnson and Irene Sullivan. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Mary Kendall (Emerson) of Palos Heights, IL; her son, John Waclaw (Kathy) of Covington, IN; her four grandchildren, Karina Kendall Guevara (Arturo), Daniel Waclaw (Teresa Moreno), Cheryl Waclaw and Patrick Waclaw; her great-granddaughter Abigail Guevara and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a brief funeral service at the Mausoleum located in Resurrection Cemetery in Danville, IL, Friday, December 16, 2016, at 3:00 pm EST. Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, IN is in charge of Entombment
