Gerald Herbert "Shorty" Myers

Gerald Herbert Shorty Myers, 79, of Covington died at 9:45 A. M. Friday February 27, 2015 at his home following an extended illness.

He was born October 1, 1935 near Dana the son of Claude Allen and Zula Warner (Myers) Myers.

He was a 1953 graduate of Newport High School. He moved to Covington from Dana in 1957. He was employed at General Motors Central Foundry and Olin a total of 37 years.

He was a member of Fountain Lodge # 60 F. & A. M. and Terre Haute Scottish Rite. He enjoyed playing golf, coaching baseball, softball, basketball; and was an I U basketball fan. He drove a school bus for 18 years and loved children.

Shorty married Janice S. Gordon April 30, 1955 at Coloma, IN and she survives.

Also surviving are four children, Gerald Lee (Linda) Myers of Terre Haute; Jeffrey Allen (Melinda) Myers of Spring Hill, FL; Kima Kristine (Jim) Carroll of Covington; Timothy Wayne (Monica) Myers of Brownsburg; 2 brothers, Marvin (Sue) Myers of Cayuga; Raymond (Clarene) Myers of Chrisman, IL; 4 sisters, Ruth Grimm of Fithian, IL; Helen Walters of Chrisman, IL; Norma (Vernon) Peterson of Cayuga,; Dorothy (Jack) Martin of Dana; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. His parents, 4 brothers and a grandson preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Tuesday March 3, 2015 at 11:00 A. M. at Shelby Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Wildman officiating. Burial will follow in Mount hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P. M. Monday at Shelby Funeral Home with Masonic services at 8:00 P. M. Condolences to the family:
