Gordon Leslie Suiters

Gordon L. Suiters, 88 of Covington, IN. died at 8:35 A. M. on Wednesday Aug. 13, 2014. He was born March 25, 1926 at Danville, IL. to Purlie C. and Edith L. (Brewer) Suiters.
Gordon was a 1944 Graduate of Perrysville High School and a Navy veteran of WWII, where he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre.
He was married to Doloris F. Warrick on May 3, 1947 at Crawfordsville, IN. and she preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 2005. Gordon was the Superintendent of the Powerhouse at Olin Corp. for 30 years before his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the National Association of Power Engineers. In 1990, they moved to Marietta, GA. and he then returned to Covington in 2007.
Survivors include: two daughters; Phyllis J. (Mike) Morgan of Raleigh, NC. and Patricia A. (Rick) Donald of Covington, IN. a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Suiters of Brownsburg, IN. 3 grandchildren: Lisa (Robert) Crowder, Misty (Eric) Davis and Ben (Lexi) Donald and 7 great-grandchildren; Kelsey Crowder, Seth Crowder, Abbey Davis, Maddey Davis, Rowan Donald, Maeve Donald and Ollie Donald, also several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Merle.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A. M. Friday Aug. 15, 2014 in the First Church of Christ, 615 Fifth Street, Covington, IN. with Randy Walters, Bill Cook and Vince Grogg officiating. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 P. M. Thursday at the church.
