Helen Pauline Ramsey Riggs, 99 of Ft. Myers, FL died at 5:33 p. m. Tuesday September 18, 2012 at Lee Community Hospital, Ft. Myers. She was born January 14, 1913 at Danville, IL the daughter of Samuel and Nellie (Pearson) Ramsey.
Helen graduated from Perrysville High School in 1931 and Indiana Central College. She was a life resident of Perrysville until 2007 when she moved to Covington and in 2010 moved to Ft. Myers.
She was a school teacher beginning at West Lebanon and then teaching and band director at Perrysville for many years, for a total of 38 years. Her memberships include: Perrysville United Methodist Church, Perrysville Chapter #302 O. E. S., Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and Parke Vermillion Retired Teachers Association.
Helen married Asa Kendall Riggs March 27, 1937 at Kankakee, IL and he died April 4, 1982. Surviving are 2 sons, Thomas (Doris) Riggs of Ft. Myers, FL and David R. Riggs of Lynchburg, TN; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Her parents and a half-sister, Edna Kamhout preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p. m. EDT Monday at Shelby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a. m. EDT Tuesday September 25, 2012 at Perrysville United Methodist Church with Rev.
