Janice Sue Myers

July 14, 1938 — June 7, 2017

Janice Sue Myers, 78, of Covington died at 9:49 P. M. Wednesday June 7, 2017 at Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born July 14, 1938 at Clinton, IN the daughter of John Paxton and Ruby Aileen (Watson) Gordon.

She attended Cayuga and Newport Schools, and moved to Covington from Dana in 1957. She had been employed at Covington Building & Loan, Community Action, and was a former Treasurer of Fountain County.  Janice and Shorty had owned and operated the Lyric Theatre in Covington.  She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren playing in their different sports.

Janice married Gerald Herbert (Shorty) Myers on April 30, 1955 at Coloma, IN and he died February 27, 2015.

Surviving are four children, Gerald Lee (Linda) Myers of Clinton; Jeffrey “Whitey” (Melinda) Myers of Spring Hill, FL; Kima (Jim) Carroll of Covington; and Timothy (Monica) Myers of Brownsburg, IN; a brother John P. Gordon of Fair Oaks, IN; fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Her parents, husband and grandson Bryan Myers preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A. M. EDT Monday June 12, 2017 at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington with Pastor Kevin Wildman officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 P. M.
