Jodie Ann Frey, 55 of Covington, IN passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones Thursday, July 2nd at 5:51 pm after a 17 month battle with cancer.
She was born Aug 4, 1964 to Richard F. (Dick) Frey and Judith A. (Bruffy) Frey in Danville, IL. She graduated from Covington High School, class of 1982, and played softball and volleyball. She also attended DACC.
She is survived by her mother- Judy Frey-Carwile (George Clawson), brother- Jeff (Kim) Frey, sister- Jennifer (Kevin) Mason, and stepbrother- Kevin Carwile, her three children James (Dayna) Niccum, Justine Niccum, and Joel (Marleigh) Niccum. She was blessed with six grandchildren, whom she adored deeply; Cadence and Colton Townson, Roman Niccum, Chase, Lucas, and Miller Niccum. Also surviving Fiancé and love of her life, Timothy Jay Parke and his children Travis Parke, Kylee Kimbrough and Kailyn (Cody) Huff. Plus many cherished Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by father Dick Frey of Covington, stepfather Jim Carwile, Grandparents Charlie and Virginia Frey of Covington, Jim and Marge Bruffy of Danville, Uncle Jerry Frey of Veedersburg, Stan Fulkerson of Bedford, and childhood friend Annie Moss.
Jodie grew up and worked in her family business, Faust and Frey Ace Hardware, in Covington until it’s closing in 1989. She worked at Maple Corner for Jim Cunningham for many years while raising her children. Then she went to Genpact where she stayed for the past 18 years and made many dear friends.
She enjoyed fishing, man could she catch fish! Jodie was fascinated by music. It touched her heart and soul! Her fiancé, Tim, played live music regularly and Jodie could always be found singing backup and playing the tambourine. She also loved collecting rocks and was fascinated by their beauty. She inherited her Grandma Virginia’s love for cooking, and was an excellent cook!
Her biggest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. She was always full of love and laughter. She did everything to make sure her children and grandchildren were taken care of and happy.
A celebration of Jodie’s beautiful life will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Shelby Funeral Home in Covington from 11:00 A. M. to 1:00 P. M. with a memorial service at 1:00 P. M. officiated by Pastor Keith Klossner.
