John Douglas Smith, 61, of Perrysville died at 8:43 P. M. Thursday September 18, 2014 at home following an extended illness.
He was born January 24, 1953 at Danville, IL the son of John W. and Melba J. (Nearpass) Smith.
He graduated from North Vermillion High School and was employed at General Motors 25 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. John was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
John is survived by a son Wade B. Smith of Covington; 2 brothers, Steven (Cindy) Smith and Kevin Smith, both of Danville, IL; and 4 grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death.
