John F Stoup

September 2, 1926 — September 19, 2016

John F. Stoup, 90, of rural Covington died at 2:58 P. M. Monday September 19, 2016 at his home where he was born and lived his entire life. He was born September 2, 1926 the son of Frank and Alna Vivian (Stout) Stoup.

He was a 1944 graduate of Perrysville High School and farmed in Wabash Township all of his life, first with his brother Toby, and then by himself after Tobys death. John was distinguished by his honesty, his attention to detail and his homespun deprecating wit. He was a successful farmer, both in good times and bad. He enjoyed watching sports on TV.

Surviving is a sister-in-law Barbara Ann Stoup of Covington; nieces and nephews: Karen Covington of Hendersonville, TN; Dwight (Paula) Stoup of Phoenix, AZ; Marvin Trimble of Springfield, IL; Rhonda (Ken) Gentrup of Covington, IN; and Jim (Eileen) Trimble of Mattoon, IL. Also surviving are seven great nieces and nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, twin brother James Stoup, Louise Downey, Charles Toby Stoup, Alice Trimble and Fred Stoup.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to long term caretakers: Matt Taylor and Chuck DeMotte.

Funeral services will be Sunday September 25, 2016 at 2:00 P. M. EDT at Shelby Funeral Home with Donald Hesler officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 P. M until time of services.
