Karen Louise Briggs

Karen L. Briggs, 57 of Covington, died at 5:53 p.m. Monday Jan. 28, 2019 in the Emergency Room of OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center. She was born August 15, 1961 in Danville, IL. to Irving Thomas and Nettie Louise (Smith) Ackley. Karen married Bernard A. Briggs in Covington, IN., on October 31, 1997 and he died October 3, 2018. She enjoyed roller skating and spending time with her family, especially her “Barbie dolls”. Survivors include four step-children; David (Sharon) Briggs of Ft. Hood, TX. Daniel (Kelly) Briggs of McKinney, TX., Catherine (Ron) Ford and Marilyn (Jeff) Strawser, both of Covington., two sisters, Donna (Edward) O’Connor of New Lisbon, WI. and Connie Daman of Shelby, NC. Also, 10 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, husband and a sister.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday February 9, 2019 in Shelby Funeral Home of Covington. Funeral Service to follow at 5:00 p.m. with Mason Shambach officiating.
