Kenneth Ray Ellmore

Kenneth Ray Ellmore, 84, of Covington, IN passed away on May 12, 2024 at Bickford Memory Care in Crawfordsville, IN where he had been a resident since November 2023. Prior to this he was a lifelong resident of Covington. Kenneth was born July 1, 1939 in Crawfordville, IN to Bert & Beatrice (Hicks) Ellmore. He married Lois Jane Wagoner on September 4, 1960. The couple were sweethearts since the 7th grade and graduated from Covington High School in 1957. She survives along with their 3 children, Phyllis (Pete) Crumrin and Cindy (Terry) Coleman both of Veedersburg, IN and Barbara Ellmore from Covington; 2 grandchildren, Melissa (Bryan) Anderson of Covington and Douglas (Macie) Wallace of Veedersburg; 1 step grand-daughter, Alissa (Nick) Garnett of Sumter, SC; 3 great-grandchildren Haddie Mae Wallace, Riggs Cooper Wallace and Emma Sue Anderson. Also surviving is his sister, Bonnie (RaBob) Abernathy of Veedersburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter Grace Sue Anderson.

Kenneth served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1963. He worked for Olin/Flexel for 38 years in the shipping/sheeting department and later as a carpenter/painter/insulator. Upon the closing of Flexel, Kenneth then worked at Raybestos in Crawfordsville for 2 ½ years and then as a custodian at Covington High School, retiring in 2001.

Kenneth was a member of the Orchard Hills Church of Christ in Covington where he served as an elder and was one of the main builders of the preacher’s house and the church building. Kenneth enjoyed fly fishing, camping and was a very skilled woodworker.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 11 AM – 1 PM EDT at the Orchard Hills Church of Christ, 1630 N. 9th Street, Covington, IN until the funeral hour at 1 p.m.  Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Danville, IL with Jim Russell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Orchard Hills Church of Christ.
