Lawrence Leroy Butts

Lawrence Leroy Butts, 87 of Danville, died at 10:05 a.m. Monday December 5, 2016 in the Illiana VA Medical Center. He was born November 15, 1929 in Danville to Toney and Thelma (Cating) Butts. He enlisted in the Air Force November 1945 and served his Country for many years before retiring in 1975 as a First Sergeant.

Larry was married to Alice M. Gholson January 14, 1950 at Hoopeston, IL. she survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Denise (Kenny) Pickett of Tilton, a son Danny Butts of Danville, a brother Donald J. Butts of Florida and a sister Mary Jane Burke of Danville. Also, 9 Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Edgar, a son Alan and a daughter-in-law Loree.

Larry was a member of the South Side Church of Christ, VFW Post # 728, American Legion Post # 51 of Westville, Anchor Lodge # 980 F&AM, GAO Grotto and an associate member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the DAV.

Visitation will be Thursday December 8, 2016 at the South Side Church of Christ 611 Forrest Street in Danville from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. CDT with Masonic/Grotto Rites at 2:30. The Funeral will follow with Kevin Ziegler officiating. Inurnment will be in the Danville National Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.
