Leslie Leon Babb, 85 of Covington died at 12:01 a. m. Friday February 4, 2011 at the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette. He was born December 11, 1925 near Kingman the son of Dewey Samuel and Olefa Lela (Clodfelder) Babb.
He attended Cates and Kingman schools, and was a life resident of Fountain County, moving to Covington in 1946. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of V F W Post #2395. He was employed at the Indiana State Highway Department many years, retiring in 1987.
Leon married Beatrice Ann Ramey February 9, 1957 at Covington. She died May 20, 2004. Surviving is a daughter Janice Wise of Veedersburg, 2 step daughters, Marla Troyer of Danville, IL, and Carolyn Garber of Texas, a sister Eileen Smock of Dover, DE, 2 grandsons, Terry (Linda) Thomas and Roger (Belinda) Thomas, both of Veedersburg, 3 step grandchildren, David A. (Shannon) Hatch, of Dixon, MO, Rhonda Beavers of Indianapolis, and Michael (Holly) Hatch of Veedersburg, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. His parents and two sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p. m. Monday February 7, 2011 at Shelby Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p. m. with Pastor Robert K. Fairchild officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be sent to www.shelbyfuneralhome.com.
