Linda K (Smith) Dorwart, 63 of Tilton, IL passed away May 15, 2012 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO with her family by her side. She was born October 13, 1948 in Danville, IL the daughter of Robert W. and Sylvia (VanNote) Smith.
On August 23, 1991 Linda married Duane Dorwart in Danville, IL. They were married 14 years until his passing Oct. 11, 2005.
Surviving family members include her son, Jimmie P Gay (wife Robin) of Westville, IL; her mother Sylvia M. Smith of Tilton, IL; brother William Smith (wife Toni) of Seminole, FL; sister Penny Hasselmann of St. Louis, MO, stepson John Dorwart (wife Lori) of Indianapolis, brother-in-law Freddie Delarosa of Danville. Also surviving are her 7 grandchildren, Britney Ping of Danville; James Karuzis of Westville; Heather Makawiski of Oakwood; Sarah Hall of Danville; Sara Ping of Westville; Cloe and Aireca Gay of Westville, IL. She has 5 nieces and 6 nephews, several great nieces and great nephews. She was a second mom to many. Her father and a sister Kathryn preceded her in death.
She graduated from Danville High School in 1966. Linda was employed at Danville Metal Stamping and a life member of the VFW #728 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed being in her flower bed and garden; as well as barbequing with family and friends. She touched many lives, and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday May 22, 2012 at 10:30 a. m. (IL time) at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Ted Pracz officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Monday 4:00 to 7:00 p. m. (IL time) at Shelby Funeral Home, 622 Third Street, Covington and 1 hour prior to services at Holy Family. Dinner will follow at VFW Post, 8 Pine Street.
