Lowell R. Holycross of Covington, Indiana, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior at
8:25 p.m., Sunday, July 8, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.

He was born April 1, 1920, in Warren County, the son of Roscoe J. and Virgie (Crisp)
Holycross. He married J. Maxine Smith on August 18, 1940. He was preceded in death by his
parents and his sister, Thelma L. Holycross.

Lowell served in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in San Diego, California.
After his tour of duty, he and Maxine settled in Sullivan, Indiana, and managed the Economy
Meat Market, leaving there in 1951 to move to Covington. There he owned and operated
Holycross Oil Company for 25 years. After retirement, he continued to work for various grain
elevators in the area. Lowell also served the community 8 years as a Covington City
Councilman. He has been a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Covington for over
60 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Maxine, to whom he was married nearly 72
years; his children, Merrill (Larry, deceased) Randles, Jake (Gladys) Holycross, Linda (Roger)
Herzog, Lea (Marv) Johnson, Julie (Scott) Powell, Tina (Tim) Biesecker, all of Covington.

grandchildren.

Lowell's Christian example, love and devotion to his family and church, and his easy-going
spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the First Assembly of God
Church, Fifth Street, in Covington. A home-going celebration will commence at 11 a.m., Friday,
July 13, at the church with Pastor Bob Fairchild officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Hope
