Mary I. Wilson

December 2, 1913 — December 16, 2020

Mary I. (Ellis) Wilson went to be with her Lord on Wednesday December 16, 2020 at the age of 107.  She was born December 2, 1913 at Lodi, Indiana to Harry and Gertrude (Earls) Ellis.

Mary married Lee Wilson March 9, 1935 at Vicksburg, Indiana.  He passed away February 13, 1962.

She is survived by her children, Mary Lee Payne, Kendall (Connie) Wilson, Weezie (Bob) Roop, and daughter-in-law Phyllis Wilson, all of Perrysville; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great-great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lee, son Kenny Wilson, great granddaughter Kendra Fawbush, three brothers and their wives, Eli (Mary) Ellis, Lawrence (Margie) Ellis, James (Bessie) Ellis and a son-in-law Thomas Payne.

Mary was raised in South Danville, attending Grant and Washington Schools, moving to Perrysville with her grandparents after school.  That is where she met Lee and stayed the rest of her life.  She was a member of Stringtown Church of God and was very active.  She loved to quilt and had made fourteen all by hand when she and Lee married.   Mary loved to travel, eat out and “watch the people”.  She was the world’s lover of chocolate, the darker the better. Mary was very giving, caring, and had the spirit of Jesus.  Her faith brought her through life and passed it on to her children, and grandchildren.

Mommy – "we want to thank you for the love, caring, endless giving you gave us. Most of all the example you lived in front of us every day.  We will see you soon."

Services have been postponed until a later date. Due to COVID-19 everyone shall wear masks and observe social distancing.   Shelby Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Contributions requested to Perrysville Fire Department or Humane Society.  Condolences to the family: www.shelbyfuneralhome.com .
