Norma E Hughes

Norma E Hughes, 84, of Perrysville died Sunday August 5, 2018 at the Waters of Covington. She was born March 12, 1934 at Gessie, IN the daughter of John and Mae (Keister) Hines.

A life resident of the Gessie area, she graduated from Perrysville High School in 1952. She was employed at Hyster, farmed with her husband, served on the North Vermillion School Board, Vermillion County Library Board, and precinct election board.  She enjoyed her children’s and grandchildren’s sports, canning, gardening, and genealogy research.

Norma married Chris Martin Hughes January 26, 1950 at Perrysville, IN and he died March 28, 2007. Surviving is a son Jon M. Hughes of Perrysville, four grandchildren, Christopher and Jackie Hughes, Zach and Abbi Montgomery; four great grandchildren, Hadley Defebaugh, Marquee Hall, Madeline Powell, and Mitchell Powell.  Her parents, husband, son Norman, daughter Crystal Anderson, brother Claude Hines, and sister Gladys Prather preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 P. M. EDT Thursday August 9, 2018 at Shelby Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Fairchild officiating. Burial in Hopewell Cemetery.  Visitation Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 P. M. at the funeral home.  Condolences to the family: www.shelbyfuneralhome.com .
