Ogle Glennth Snider

October 27, 1923 — September 20, 2021

On September 20, 2021 Ogle G. Snider, of Covington, IN and Winter Haven, FL, passed from this life.  He was 97 years and 11 months young.

He was predeceased in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Pauline (Kenny) Snider.  Ogle and Pauline were married at the First Baptist Church of Covington, IN on September 5, 1953.

Ogle Glennth Snider was born in Crawford County Illinois on October 27, 1923, at 5:30 pm, to Cloyce and Bertha (Lingafelter) Snider, of Bellair, Ill. Armed with a good Christian raising and an eighth grade education, Ogle attended the family farm as an early teen.  As the primary caretaker of the farm, Ogle was exempt from military service in WWII, as farmers were urgently called to the wartime efforts at home.

In time, Ogle established Snider Plumbing and Heating, providing the very best in customer service in nearly all manner of work.  Ogle truly could do it all.  So proving, Ogle was one of only a few early founders of the Bank of Western Indiana (BWI) as well as the first Board Chairman and Station Manager of WFOF 90.3 FM. He was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Covington, IN.  Beginning in 1984, Ogle became a winter member of Faith Baptist Church in Winter Haven, FL.  Ogle was a member of the Gideons, and diligently distributed the Holy Bible to those in need.

It was at FBC Covington in 1976 when he officially became “Gramps”.  Gregg and Marilyn Curtis, the then Pastor of First Baptist Church of Covington, adopted Pauline and Ogle to be “Granny and Gramps” to their children, Joy, David, and Lee. They would so remain for the rest of their lives.

He was a faithful but frustrated University of Illinois fan, supporting the Fighting Illini over his many years. Yet still, serving Christ and His church, boating, golfing, fishing, mowing, “Beef House”-ing, picking up the check, being the best Gramps on earth, and attending to the wishes of his beautiful bride were a few of his chosen pastimes. He was an extraordinarily generous man who was loved and appreciated by many.

He lived by his life verse of Jeremiah 17:7 - Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

He loved his God with all of his heart, all of his soul, and all of his might.  Further, he loved his neighbor as himself.

May it so be said of us all.  Memorials requested to Covington First Baptist Church.

Visitation 12:30 P. M. to 3:00 P. M. Sunday October 10, 2021 at Covington First Baptist Church.  Funeral services at 3:00 P. M. with Dr. Greg Curtis officiating.  Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Shelby Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Condolences to the family:  www.shelbyfuneralhome.com.
