Philip George Richardson, 77, of Fairmount, IL passed away March 11, 2022. He was born on November 11, 1944 to George Alexander and E. Louise (Young) Richardson in Danville, IL.
He is survived by spouse Lois Richardson, children, Teresa (Joe) Osborn, Brazil, IN; Kelli (Chris) Pinkerton, Covington, IN; Aaron (Nikki) Richardson, Catlin, IL;
Grandchildren Scott Hannah, Rachel Hannah, Danielle (Casey) Funk, Mallory (Dan Snedden) Richardson, McKenna Richardson, Logan Pinkerton.
Step children Debbie (Charlie) McCarthy, Kathy Criss, Jim (Sherri Perkins) Vaughn, Pam Stanley, Kerry (Robin) Vaughn, Shawn (Kristi) Vaughn.
Step grandchildren Megan (John) Goss, Michael (Brittany) McCarthy, Zack Dunham, Jeremy (Jess) Vaughn, Donnie (April) Hinkle, Jason Hinkle, Kyle (Chelsea Mabes) Kidwell, Kayla (Nick) Wilhelm, Stephanie (Frank Graziani) Stanley, Brandon (Megan) Vaughn, Morgan Vaughn, Emily Vaughn, Kody Vaughn, Kalen Vaughn, Leona Vaughn, Ella Vaughn, Maggie Vaughn, Myra Vaughn, Presley Vaughn, Joseph “Bear” (Amanda) Osborn, Sarah Osborn and 18 step great grandchildren.
Also surviving two brothers Floyd (Mary) Richardson of Covington, IN; Charles “Chuck” Richardson of Tilton, IL, 5 nieces, Eva Cotton, Roxanna Dunivan, Lori Holman, Georgianna Chaulkus, Gabrielle Kiger, 2 nephews, Eric Richardson, Charles Richardson II, and many great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews.
Preceeded by parents George Alexander and E. Louise Richardson, nephew David Richardson, twin grandchildren Marah and Levi Richardson, a great nephew, He graduated from Perrysville High School in 1962, and married Diana Smith of Covington, IN June 14, 1964, she survives in Covington, IN, the marriage ended in 1980. He was a 30 year Teamster Driver for UPS. But his passion was stock car racing. He married a widow, Lois E Vaughn of Catlin, IL on November 8, 1980, with four adult children and two young boys at home. Together with the whole family they operated PLR racing promotions and ran the Vermillion County Raceway for many years. After retirement he still operated grader and heavy equipment. They then joined the Danville Moose Lodge and enjoyed running events, the kitchen and singing karaoke.
He began helping Aaron at his auto repair shop and soon built a brand new commercial garage in 2001 near the Champaign mall. He continued doing home projects and wood working. He helped build a restaurant with Teresa and Joe near Staunton, IN. He performed with the Danville Barber Shop Chorus, enjoyed pontooning and pulling skiers at Lake Vermillion and Raccoon Lake. He helped Kelli and Chris do home remodeling and helped to finish their forever home. He and Billy (Amy) Deavers were actively finishing another proud project in Covington, while awaiting the golfing season to begin at Rivercrest Golf course where he was a member golfing daily. He loved traveling with his golf buddies and participating in tournaments.
He and Lois enjoyed 42 years of marriage and traveling throughout the 50 states and sharing in all of the family events.
Funeral services 12:00 P. M. EDT Friday March 18, 2022 at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, IN. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 P. M. EDT Thursday March 17, 2022 and 1 hour before funeral services Friday. Burial in Lower Mound Cemetery. A luncheon to follow at the Covington Rivercrest Golf Course.
