Robert Phillip Grubbs

Covington Robert Phillips Grubbs, 92 died Wednesday September 1, 2010 at home. He was born December 2, 1917 south of Covington the son of Alexander and Minnie McDonald Grubbs.
Bob was a life resident of Covington, and attended Perrysville Schools. He was a member of Covington United Methodist Church, oldest member of Tidal Lodge #36 Knights of Pythias, 50 year member of and the first person given a life membership in the Indiana Angus Association, Indiana Farmers Union. He raised and showed Angus cattle since the age of 14, and was known as the turkey man having raised them for many years.
Bob married Sylvia Mary Hunt June 18, 1939 at Attica. She survives with two children, Shirley (Allen) Lueking of Sullivan, IN, John (Mary Ellen) Grubbs of Covington, a brother Paul (Joy) Grubbs of Veedersburg, 5 grandchildren, Matthew (Meg) Moudy, Jeff Grubbs, Cynthia (Chris) Kan, Mark Grubbs, Scott, (Jessica) Grubbs, and seven grandchildren. His parents, a granddaughter, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a. m. Saturday September 4, 2010 at Shelby Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Hoehner officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30 to 7:00 p. m. Friday and 1 hour before services Saturday. Memorials requested to Covington United Methodist Church.
