Roy Rex Orr

Roy Rex Orr, 89, of Covington, IN, passed this world on February 25, 2014, at The Waters, with his entire family by his side. He was born in Mercer County, PA, and was the son of the late Leonard R. and Ethel M. Orr.
Mr. Orr is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary V. "Ginger" Orr. Also surviving are seven of his eight children, Bonnie (Robert) Wright, Randall (Nancy) Orr, Diane Hughes, Leonard (Marsha) Orr, Joanne Orr (spouse, Danny Milhon), Susan (Joseph) Henderson, and Karen Orr (spouse, Larry Fisher), all of Indiana. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Orr, two sisters and one brother.
Mr. Orr was a graduate of Grove City High School, Grove City, PA. Mr. Orr served our country during WW II in the U.S. Navy as a torpedo man. He was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church and retired from R & S Printing, Danville, IL, as a bookbinder. He enjoyed golfing, attending his children and grandchildrens sporting events, and going to the boats. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be February 27, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 p. m. EST at the Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. The funeral will be held on Friday February 28, 2014, at 11:00 a. m. EST with Pastor Andy Martin officiating and with military honors presented by Veedersburg American Legion Post. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
The Orr family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Covington Community Foundation, (attn: Covington Youth Baseball Fund), P.O. Box 175, Covington, IN 47932; or to the Covington United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 222, Covington, IN 47932.
