Steven Jay Allen

Steven Jay Allen, 64 of Lebanon, IN died at 2:07 pm Sunday Nov. 6, 2022, at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Feb. 27, 1958 in Danville, IL. to Gordon D. and Marjorie L. (Coleman) Allen. He was a 1976 graduate of North White High School, received a Bachelor of Science in 1980 from Purdue and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Illinois in 1986. Steve was married to Nancy Gleitz on Oct. 2, 1982 in Corydon, IN. He was a high school Ag teacher before getting his Nursing Degree as a Registered Nurse. He worked at the Danville Polyclinic before working close to 20 years at the VA Medical Center in Danville before his retirement in 2020.

Steve was an avid supporter of 4-H, continuing to this year when he won the Best of Show at the Indiana State Fair with his garden produce. He was the current Vice-President of the International Cornish Breeders Association. He was a member of the Highland Township Board for many years and the Vermillion County Fair Board. He was an avid Purdue fan and enjoyed being a grandpa. Steve was an active member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lebanon, IN.

Survivors include his wife Nancy of Lebanon, 3 sons; Jared (Christine) Allen of Lebanon, Jason Allen of Evansville, and Jacob Allen of Chicago. Two brothers; David (Amy) Allen of Crawfordsville and Eddie (Stephanie) Allen of Stone Bluff. Two sisters; Nancy (Robert) Call of Avon, IN, and Becky (John) Robinson of Alvin, IL; two granddaughters, Heidi and Hannah Allen of Lebanon and his aunt Virginia Allen of Fort Wayne, IN along with several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 858 West 250 North, Lebanon, IN on Friday Nov. 11, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Visitation on Saturday Nov. 12th at Shelby Funeral Home, 622 Third Street Covington, IN from noon to 2:00 pm with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 pm. Officiating the service will be Pastors Merv McNair and Paul Rebert. Burial will follow in the Coal Creek Cemetery, South of Covington.
