William Dean "Bill" Clem

William Dean Bill Clem, 77, of rural Covington died at 4:00 P. M. Tuesday July 5, 2016 at home following an extended illness. He was born September 18, 1938 at Danville, IL the son of Paul B. and Irene (Crawford) Clem.
Bill graduated from State Line Grade School, Covington High School in 1956 and Purdue University in 1960. He was an accomplished singer, a soloist with the Purdue Glee Club for four years, sang for many funerals and other events. He was a member of State Line Christian Church and the song leader for many years.
Bill was a life resident and prominent farmer of the State Line area. He was a member of the Seeger Memorial High School Board for eight years when the consolidation of the schools took place.
He married Patricia A. Moorhous August 23, 1959 at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church and she survives. Surviving are three children, Kathryn Clem of Covington; Jeffrey W. (Nora) Clem and Christina (Craig) Walters both of Williamsport; a sister Jane Phillips of Covington a sister-in-law Carol Clem of Williamsport. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Phillip (Emily) Clem, Joel (Kate) Clem, Duncan Clem, Jennifer Walters, Galen Walters (fiance Grace Chinn); two great grandchildren, Rory and Ava Clem. His parents, a brother Joe Clem and a brother-in-law Jim Phillips preceded him in death.
Funeral services 11:00 A. M. Saturday July 9, 2016 at Shelby Funeral Home with Pastors Bob Cornell and Gerald Burt officiating. Burial will follow in West Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 P. M. Friday at Shelby Funeral Home.
